20171209: Dancing in the night.

These are some brave souls. Bloody cold & windy but they did their thing beside the San Juan de los Lagos “Saint’d Church.

20171121: Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 “L” repair test shots. Looking Good!

So this past weekend was some part of Mexican Independence Celebration, the locals that speak English could not explain it fully to me.

But with the 16-35mm back in action, it was time to go play in the night with it.

Nothing better than a reflection in the night when you don’t have stars to shoot!

My Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 just is not able to pull this off, standing a little further back and the wall containing the fountain hides the reflection of the crosses.

Most the time this fountain is either on or dry… so I shot both sides.

Just a little fun in the lights…

Well, with a few shots with the “fixed” Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 “L” II … I think it is going to be just FINE!

20171102 Dia de Muertos-Jalopy trio_FB

Just a little too fun, last in the parade & cruising down the street as I walked home so I shot a couple angle on a “REAL” Mexican Jalopy,  from the Dia de la Muertos celebrations!

20171019: Churches of San Juan de los Lagos, poster

Yes, like any place there are many churches here, so I did a poster of some of them.20171018 San Juan Churches_AFB

Most of the tourists only see the main one, so these are a few of the others with a view less seen of the Main “Saint” Church in the center.

20171014: Timing is everything!

2017 Bimbo Pan Senor_02_FB

Yesterday, this Bimbo Pan man stopped to make his usual delivery to the Hamburguesa Stand, my manager of the new apartment.

He walked over and looked at some of my posters & photos on display. Since he could speak a little English & i get away with and even tinier bit if Spanish he told me he wanted a nice photo of him with his truck.

He then started talking of wanting the local river front for it but he was looking at my night scenes.

The night before I had taken a walk & seeing the reflection of the3 bridge in the river which is still quite full.

I pulled out the cellphone and  shot 2 frames of the reflection.

So I showed him those 2 frames and he just “Wow! Yes, I want me & my truck in front of that!”

So while he did the bread delivery I grabbed a camera & external flash and just before he drove off, I shot a couple quick frames of him & the truck. I showed him what I had shot and again he was happy with it.

Today he came by to do his delivery & I showed him the combined image, one framed as you see here & one without a frame.

He chose this one, so I will get him a print & in the next day or two of deliveries I will have the finished product for him…

So yes, I am slowly winning the hearts & eyes of these people as more & more are coming by & seeing what I can do for them.

Timing is everything, as any photographer knows, CAPTURE THE MOMENT!

20170912: OK, all equipment is in the new landing zone, studio building time!

OK, so being a night photographer, yeah, I am working long & hard to make the place a working set-up for both the business I need & the house to live in. working till 4am, then back up at 10:30am… I have progress…

The 4am shot, yes, I am tired, the lousy photo is in part due to a dirty lens.

but at 3pm the next afternoon, progress.

I have clothes lines for wet clothes on the patio, above the laundry sink & in the banos. Keeping them full and moving stuff around as needed, the pile is growing smaller..

Yes, I can walk the whole house & not stub a toe if i stay in the middle of the rooms. But at least I can see where stuff is & organize it.

And I needed to finish the screening of the windows, here is the front door.

So yes, with a lot of patience & the forethought see what I can use where to make a business, I survived the 20 months of hell in that little room.

I am hoping to hang my signs of open for business in about 2 more days.

I hope I inspire a few people to “hang tough & be patience” to make their dreams come true too!
