20171015: Fiesta San Juan Poster… #1

OK, so I worked into the wee hours, got some sleep and was back at it a couple hours later.

Fiesta San Juan de los Lagos, Jal MX.

20171015 Fiesta San Juan Boom_FB

Just the few of the photos, But the fast eye of the newspaper Photo editor in use here, & a little skill on the computer.

1pm local time Sunday, I was sell this poster on the streets… (meta data on the last frame shot was 10:05pm Saturday. Not too bad for a one man operation.)

With 1100 frames to review slower, I am sure I will use other photographs & maybe do another poster.

20171004: A Little more like Home…

I have been busy, as you can see, I can now cook food in a semi kitchen area.

20170927_164540_FB

Yes, that cooking hot plate arrangement is wired together to keep it stable, but to be able to cook and have room for doing so & a place to clean dishes is very nice.

Shelves on the wall even to keep things out where I can see them instead of having to hunt around in this box or that box.  I grew up sailing and did consider sailing around the world solo. So yes I can use my laundry hanging system, the wet stuff goes over the sink till it stops dripping. Also I have the water cooler set up so I don’t have to try to filter my  tap water any more. (just behind the stove)

I also have my wire rack set up for going outside and selling on the street. I did this the other day and spent several hours out there. I did not sell anything, (did not expect too), I am just getting people use to seeing me out there.

The people who did stop and look or read my sign over the doorway made the day worth it and a success. I have owned a dozen businesses, never expect to be an overnight Success. But build it up by being there. I have run business for others some of whom never learned that lesson and complained that running a business was too hard…

I will start being out on the street outside the building several hours a day, on at least Thursday thru Sunday when the main tourist days are.

So, while life is not great, I do survive. One step after another gets you to the end of the journey…

I hope this helps others to understand & survive their struggles in life.

The flavor in life comes not from always getting your way.

But from being able to say “Wow, I survived once again!”

What an adventure life is when you live it!

20170922: What I left behind to MOVE forward! My new apartment vs old

I recently moved out of my old Mexican apartment for the past 20 months.

It has been a trying time to be there & living here!

20170824_112405

Here you can see the foot of my bed, the desk and some of the stuff piled up waiting for me to find a place to sort through & see what was still good after the Dec. 2015 auto accident.

20170824_112349

The head of the bed, rain water drip catcher over it, blue water bucket for purifying my drinking water. That “white card stock” by the head of the bed was to slow down the mice & cockroaches that would run over my face as I slept.

So yes, folks this is what I did not want to show as I lived there. I do not like pity.

I worked to find answers.

20170824_112923

The small windows in the door, like my jail cells, not light. But sometimes a little is better than none.

20170824_112530

The corner of the desk to the door, not much smaller/bigger that one of my past jail cells too. The moving blanket was for winter, it would block out the colder air at night. Summer could hit 100F and was often 90F at 12midnight. So winter’s 55F was cold.

There was no sense buying any kind of heater, the other units used them and blew the whole complex’s electric box all the time.

20170824_112711

yes a tin roof with cement on top of it. Mexican construction yes that is a crack running down the wall.

My new place,

20170912 Work station & laundry moving

This is a week or so ago. The laundry pile is smaller now. But here is the front rooms, Laundry sink in the left corner, place to let dishes dry, book shelves and a workstation to train people at.

20170916_121540_FB

20 months later I am open for business “Locally”, sign on the street. Internet installed.

I currently have 7 different calendars to offer for sale on the street. Yes, just like an ordinary Mexican, selling in front of my house. I have even located some “wire racks the locals use to display their products on that I can use.

And a sign by my patio doors,

20170916_121339_FB

Notice the cut step of the stairs… PLEASE DO NOT ARRIVE HERE DRUNK OR ON DRUGS THAT IMPAIR YOU!

That is the area to step into my entry! ha ha… once again the “Gods” have given me a place that is hard to attack!

20170922_165619

Inside the NEW apartment, my workstation, and the reverse view. A studio for photography.

20170922_165449

My bed has some legs I had made for it after moving in too.

20170922_165729

& I even get to hang my night panorama of London!

20170922_165808

by the way, yes this is my chair… and you can see even in the new apartment the sleeping bag is hanging out of it!

(I ran around the old apartment trying to figure out where the 2nd warm sleeping bag was, till I stopped to straighten up the chair and remembered I used it to “stuff” the chair!

20170824_112756

So the next time some one tells you not to TRY, just remember that I came here NOT SPEAKING THE LANGUAGE, not having any friends, very little money, and quite a few people wanting to steal from me. PLUS no ability to return to USA other than to go to prison for BEING A WHISTLE BLOWER with corruption charges on the USA court system & a threat of death if I ever ENTER A USA COURT!

A one way ticket into Mexico & I Won!

20170918: A calendar for the Scorpio in your life!

2018 Escorpion Calendar_FB

I will also have the English version ready soon.

This is the graphic I did just for fun that is now a calendar for sale.

20170907: NEW DIGS & internet too!

OK, so the new apartment is much better…

instead of 3feet below the street in a courtyard the has a plugging up drain…

I am 3 feet above the street and a huge street drain 100 feet from the building entrance.

20170825_175559

And yes the landlord OK’d me to put a sign up about my being in business up right where the arrow is.

Inside, well I have a total of 4 rooms.

20170825_175327

Yes, I can lock down my studio area… cleaning in progress in this photo.  That is all done.

I am settling in and making myself at home. Those photos are coming soon.

20170825_174913

20170905_131945_FB

Yes, the hot water heater is DEAD! but at least I have a private banos/shower after 20 months. (banos is bathroom)

20170825_175519

Around the corner where the truck is to the right, I have a tortilla place. Fresh made corn tortillas piping hot, 14 pesos for a kilo & I can get a half kilo which takes me a couple days to eat.

Alicia is a person who helped me get this place she lived in USA for years & speaks decent English. The owner of the apartment lives in USA and speaks English.

The Manager & his wife who is the sister of the owner are very helpful. Jorge speaks some English so my little Spanish & his little English makes it possible to communicate. Their food is also very good. I can’t eat beef & pork, but they make chicken burgers and quesadillas. I get chicken & mushroom quesadillas with fries quite often. 50 pesos! Open 7pm to midnight.

20170825_175530

Where that red crate is in the street, is a small store, fresh fruit & veges, Mexican sweet breads, and some basic food supplies as well as dry goods. I can walk to all the stores I use to go to before easy enough.

The studio! and yes folks the floor tile really is that ugly…. but I can live with it!

20170825_175129

About 20 feet deep, lots of room to put my computer desk & should I have clients for photographic work, room to set up a shoot area.

I will offer graphic design lesson on a computer outside the studio on a old computer on the other side of the windows.

2016 San Juan for hire sign

While air flow is not great, the heat is deflected somewhat by the fact the apartment is deep inside so much other buildings. I stay some what cooler in here. It some what funny, the locals grab jackets when the temperatures get down to the lower 70s… me, well I am running around in shorts and sweating even when it rains around here.

At 5000ft+ elevation yes, it does get cold in the winter, specially after 100 degree summers, but this tropical weather around here.

With the private patio, I can leave my windows open most the time and get plenty of air. And since I hate having mosquitoes bite me, yes I figured out how to screen a Mexican window.

20170905_132109_FB

20170905_132245_FB

I still have the door window to do.

And yes, I am a bachelor to the max… my private hand washing laundry sink!

20170826_151204_FB

The flowers and herbs are outside now, I have wires for hanging clothes inside when it rains as well. The sink in the banos is not working just yet, so I am also washing hands & shaving out here. But it is nice not to stand in line to wash my clothes any more!

20170829_114947_FB

20170902_124733_FB

I can make about 6 trips a day with the dolly, I have to stop and drink my water when I get home. But I am just a Mexican moving as far as anyone else is concerned. Yes, the “American” has weird stuff. But otherwise no one cares & even the local police pay no attention to me, other than one motorcycle cop, taking a double take on this load of wood. The shock on his face made it obvious, he realized the weight of my load. But he just turned and went on up the street without any further cares.

20170826_180549_FB

One of my first meals in the new apartment.

Any way, settling in and having fun once more!

More photos to come as I get the place cleaned up & set up.

Adios for now!
