Some times it takes a long distance view, to understand the world around you. The Sierra Mountains from Nevada.

A ghost town, seldom visited in the mass crowds of well know places.

But offering a wonderful view for the camera to capture.

20170330: Joshua Tree funnies

So many times over the years, I have listened to people who do not open their eyes and walk in nature… “Oh nature never does 90 degree angles in anything.”   2 examples of 90 degrees in nature, naturally happening in ONE photograph….

Of course soft curves are fun too,

I know the other day I did the “Wild & Crazy” light painting, here is one of my more subtle light painting moments.

All in Joshua Tree National Park.

20170327: When a light painter has too much fun!

Yeah, a trip into the desert, 4 different colors of lights and about 7 different lights to make this all happen. Yes, when I hit the shutter trigger, I then used a laser beam light on the back rocks for a 5th light source.

Just having way too much fun with my normal way too much equipment carrying habits.

When I go shooting wild flowers, yeah I got to have my eyes on the ground way too much….

TINY, little flowers are fun to find.

Never one for the standard same old thing, as i set up for sunset I noticed these tiny purple flowers and the cactus popping through, indirect lighting gave a nice contrast that the brighter hot afternoon sun would not have.

Early morning in Joshua Tree National Park, some wild flowers and a nice sunrise.

Easy to see why this is a favorite place of mine.

20170101: Roommates no more…

20161231end-of-year-6798fb

I was aware of one of these guys running around in my peasant room, a little surprised when I caught the 2nd one.

Mouse sticky traps, so there is no way to get them off safely, notice that the business end is sharp and stuck down…

20161231end-of-year-6782fb

Woke up one night and thought I felt something under my foot. Pretty certain it was not one of these guys, but I did see it and knew the colder weather would drive them inside.

cut & paste from internet: “”About 250,000 people in Mexico are stung by scorpions each year—more people than in any other country. Several dozen people die each year. Indeed, for the past 20 years, scorpion stings have been the leading reason in Mexico for  deaths due to adverse reactions and poisoning caused by venomous plants and animals. There are more than 200 different species of scorpions in Mexico, of which only 8, all belonging to the genus Centruroides are a significant public health risk.””

Well, it is hard to tell, but the scorpions are common here, so like camping in the desert, I knock out my boots & shoes before putting them on.

The 3 stripe scorpion in the right side of the top row looks closest and very common in this area. Also not considered deadly, just painful! NICE to know!

Happy new year folks!
