20180604: Street photography, being ready to catch something…

Street photography is about the life on the streets, so yes while these guys come through all the time but being ready to catch one in the act is different.

201800520 candy& other street-3764FB

With a lucky twist of the wrist, I caught the biker up in the wheelie, spokes on the wheels & various parts of the bike are sharp where the stop action happened & the rest has motion blur. The background is also blurred so the photo has motion across with the bike’s motion. f/13, 1/320, ISO1000 16mm

20180531: Scheming? Street Photography San Juan de los Lagos.

As I just pointed out, getting the street or your ability to handle the camera & shoot the shot without the people suspecting it, is key to the capture of the moment.

Scheming, it is quite obvious to me this little girl is scheming, be it about getting a barbie doll or an ice cream, that she desires something from whom she is looking at be it person or store.

Yes, of course it me the American Gringo, but by isolating her, it makes it more of a “viewer’s point of perspective” of a little girl with a scheming looking…

20180529: Street photography, patience…

I started to shoot street photography in the early 1970s in the Los Angeles area,

Street Photography for me is the trick of that candid shot, not the paparazzi “Bang flash in your face” but people doing their thing unconcerned of a photographer near by…

A funeral procession walks past my street set-up, camera on my knee. Even the children are looking at my display not the camera.

Or right behind the children,

and of course my street vendors, ‘agua’ & coco are easy, but I enjoy the fact he does his thing & even the traffic is of no concern as I snap this shot of him preparing my bag of fresh coconut pieces.

So years of carrying the cameras, knowing where the buttons are & do, I quietly photograph the life as it is happening in the natural surrounding.

20180430: Native Dancers, San Juan de los Lagos

Took these photos a few weeks back, the dancers are on the upper plaza of the Basilica & tourists circle around.

It is sad to see a once proud people humbled by a invading religion & it’s tourists.

You can see that the decorations on their outfits have the church beliefs on them as well as the Native American symbols.
