Not so noticeable in the camp shot.
However the height of the building and the wide view of the close up of the destruction shows the wide format frame much better.
I will Be POSTING THESE CONTACT PRINTS ON Ebay in a few days, aprox. the 20th of May 2016.
A series of 14 images of unknown camera make or photographer taken a few weeks after the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake.
This images are the original set of 5×7 inch prints I made from the original 1906 negatives. These are contact prints, Not enlargements.
I was Photo Editor for a newspaper publisher and this old woman came in one day asking to see me.
When I came over, she explained she had been told to see me about the possibility of having prints made from some old negatives.
I told I would look at them, no problem and yes I as pretty sure I could help her.
She then pulled out an envelope and and handed it to me.
I pulled one negative out, saw the strange size and asked if I could have a copy of the prints to chase to negative size and find out what camera was used.
She agreed, and I was starting to look at images in the negatives and realized that they were 1906 S.F. earthquake negatives.
She explained a ma=ember of the family took them and gave to negatives to her years ago. The woman was in her 70’s, and this was 1995-96.
While I never did chase on the camera design, I have decided to sell the photos. These are original wet darkroom process black/white prints, most likely the box is the kind of papaer used, Polycontrast III RC
I have no one to pass them to of blood. I
I can use the income.
Bidding will start aprox May 20th, 7-21 days open bidding for the set.
At the moment the set of 14 images will be offered on Ebay, through my Ebay store “Avalon_Curiousity_Shop”
