More of the journey…..people shots

OK, so I admit it.

I’ll shoot people shots but I like nature/cityscapes better.

I did a lot of editing of people shots and shooting them as well for the newspapers, shot family and friends. Shot my son, I’ll get the 2 B/W framed photos I did of him back then. Take some nice photos of them and post them with their stories. Kind of happy to see that someone rescued them for me when I was locked up.

So here are a few of the people shots I took in trying out different styles of photography as a business. Or variations of themes such as wedding photographer, stylized vs photo-journalistic.

The shot above of my niece is photo-journalism, we were at a favorite restaurant waiting for our food. She decided she wanted a photo taken so, being in an enclosed patio area. I had her sit on the planter, no flash, Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L (f2.8 1/250 sec ISO 500 @25mm). I’ve managed to keep just enough of the depth of field to have her in focus. But the plants behind her go fuzzy and the window and beyond is a nice bokeh. I took 3 shots total. This is the last of the group.

Here is a shot of a model, I was with a Meetup.com group. I was shooting with a Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8. We were just walking around downtown LA. Don’t remember if I was shooting with a flash or not. Sure I had one with me.

Here is another shoot I went to. At a park.

Then there were the wedding workshops I did.

I put the vignetting on in Lightroom for these 2 engagement shots. Both were on the same windy, cloudy beach. Several photographers fighting to get a shot before the wind blew things around too much. Note woman’s hand on her dress, to keep it from blowing up. Would have been a little less awkward looking if her left hand was on his shoulder.

This next shot is a natural light photo, campfire light. Just a rough, grainy look, I couldn’t resist.

So, yes I can shoot people and have a little bit of my own style.  Since I live in a very big city, I’ve got to shoot people from time to time. May need to do it to make a living. I’ve got other shots I will share later. If you see something I do and want to know how I did it, please leave me a question in the comments.

I am also interested in taking reservations for photo shoots, I’ll be off medical restriction for my hernia surgery in March. If you live in the Los Angeles area or visiting the area and want to shoot with me, please contact me.

Soon, I will have photos for sale on another site. I hope you will stay tuned for that and visit my e-commerce site when it is ready.

Till then,

Creative shooting,

Peter
